While Men’s Fashion Week always gives us a nice glimpse of some anticipated looks for the next season, we couldn’t help but notice the ladies! Well-known street style shooting expert Tommy Ton pulled together a great collection of photos and while browsing through we noticed a huge trend: women in menswear. This look may seem daunting at first, but there are tons of different ways to get a menswear inspired look that is appropriate for you. Test the waters by going in your boyfriend/husband/brother’s closet and playing a little dress up! Here are a few ways you can try out the awesome fall fashion trend that will look just right when everyone is heading back to school.

1) Go in your suit and tie…or just tie

The adorable fashionistas look just like they stepped off the set of Gossip Girl. Get the schoolgirl (or schoolboy!) chic look with a men’s tie. Men’s accessories are fun because you can play with prints, colors and textures. Do a plain black tie for a more conservative look or try a bold patterned one for more of a statement. One tip that is imperative for both men and women is not to wear one this is too wide — it will make you appear wide as well.

2) Throw on his blazer

Wearing a boyfriend blazer is no new concept. This trend took on steam in the early 2000s when the oversized look showed up on runways, and celebrities like the Olsen Twins started wearing giant jackets that enveloped their tiny frames. The great thing about these jackets is that they are super versatile. Wear one with a feminine dress at the office for some contrast, or throw one on with some skinny jeans for a menswear look. Our favorite way to wear one is with a nighttime dress. The baggy fit of the jacket counteracts a short, tight dress and makes it look sexy instead of sleazy.

3) In vogue with brogues

Ah the best part of being a man — comfortable shoes! How jealous are we that guys get to turn their look up a notch with a sleek and stylish pair of shoes that don’t kill your feet by the end of the dat. A pair of loafers is a great way to add a small touch of menswear to your look. Throw on a pair of argyle socks and even grandpa will give you compliments on your style. These shoes look super cute with a pair of cuffed trousers or skinny jeans. You can also make a short dress a little more casual with a pair of men’s inspired shoes.

4) Go bold and baggy

This look isn’t quite as forgiving as the aforementioned. Baggy trousers can make you look unpolished and frumpy if not worn correctly. Our best tip is to wear them with heels to elongate your frame and make sure to balance with a fitted shirt. Also go sans jacket which can overwhelm and swath you in too much fabric. This look can actually be really hot and perfect for a date night if you pair them with a sleeveless top and a fabulous clutch. (Check out Rihanna’s hot look here)

5) She looks so good in a suit

The most obvious and boldest way women can rock menswear is by putting on a chic suit. The shorts suit was a huge trend for Spring 2013 (anyone see this post?) and is perfect for summer. throw on a tie and some wedges and you are the chicest woman in the office. Go all in this fall with a black or grey full suit, just make sure to wear a fitted shirt or blouse and wear at least a kitten heel to keep the look feminine. Another great way to make sure nobody mistakes you as running for office is to wear a bright and girly color or find a fun patterned suit that makes you look put together but not too serious.

Menswear inspired clothing and accessories are great because you can do a little or a lot. Go full on with a suit, button up and tie or just add a little accent with a pair of men’s shoes.
